The jump from solo freelancer to a small studio changes less than expected about the actual craft, and more than expected about communication. Client conversations that used to be a single voice now need a documented process so nothing gets lost between people.
The biggest early mistake is under-investing in that process because the team is still small enough that 'we'll just talk about it' feels sufficient. It stops being sufficient earlier than most people expect — usually around the second or third concurrent project.
Writing things down, even briefly, ends up being the highest-leverage habit in that transition.
